- Shorter lessons designed to engage the whole attention of your child.
- Hands-on, relevant activities chosen to invite your child into the learning experience.
- Attention to the “whole child” because the best way to educate a child is through encouragement and building confidence.
It is both spiral and mastery. Math Lessons uses a unique skill level approach that builds steadily, bringing the child’s ability and confidence up one step at a time.
- Short answer: No.
- This curriculum is based on studies in developmental psychology, neuroscience, and the science of heart-focused learning.
- The total scope and sequence of the Math Lessons for a Living Education curriculum series was carefully designed to include all of the same concepts taught in every other elementary math curriculum on the market.
- However, this does not mean it is introduced at the same time or taught in the same way.
Yes! The test results are in! Students who have used Math Lessons have done exceedingly well on achievement tests.
If you are coming from another curriculum, it is of the utmost importance to start with the placement tests (explained in the next point).
- Unlike most other placement tests, the Math Lessons placement tests are READINESS tests. This means you are going to be learning if your child is READY for the corresponding level of Math Lessons.
- For example, if you believe your child is ready for Math Lessons Level 3, you would sit down with your child and allow them to SHOW you what they understand of the Level 3 placement test. If they can do all of the work on that test, they are READY for Math Lessons Level 3.
- The materials in the placement test is material they need to know to be successful in that level of the curriculum.
- It is recommended that you start where your child is proficient and allow them to build from that place.

FAQs about the Real Cool History for Kids Podcast Show
When I teach children about historical events and people, I try to approach it from as balanced viewpoint as possible. For example, elementary-aged children don’t need to hear all of the nitty-gritty details of people’s bad habits or immoral living. I view my role in these children’s lives as a support to their parents. If their parents want to go deeper into a particular aspect of a history story, they may of course.
No, it really doesn’t. I’ve studied history enough from various viewpoints to know how I want to present specific topics in history. I won’t do woke history any more than I would do common core math. This podcast is primarily for Christian families, who tend to be more grounded in conservative values; therefore, the stories are told from a Constitutionally and Christian conservative bias, which I make clear right from the start. There are plenty of woke history resources available for those who would rather hear that version.
I use a wide variety of sources from first hand accounts to modern exposés on as many controversial characters and events as I possibly can. I personally own a massive collection of historical writings, which have come in extremely helpful in my quest of entering into the cultural schools of thought of the events.
A new episode is released every two weeks on Monday morning.
All of my episodes topics are suggested by the families who listen! If you want to add your suggestion to the queue? Use this official form.
